If a death occurs in a hospital, then they will have the facilities to care for the deceased until we are able to collect them ourselves after the death has been registered. Each of these facilities will offer bereavement support and will guide you on your next course of action.

Check with hospital staff about when you can collect the Cause of Death Certificate.

We will make all arrangements with the hospital bereavement services for the additional documentation if the funeral is to be a cremation.

If a death occurs in a private centre or care home, the first thing to do would be to contact your GP or your GP’s out-of-hours service; the staff at the care home will normally do this for you if required. The deceased cannot be moved until a doctor has attended and certified death. Once this has been done, please contact us and we can arrange for the removal of the deceased.
